Does this sound familiar?
A new ERP system has gone live, yet the finance team is still relying on Excel for the month-end close...
You’ve selected a new ERP—such as Business Central—and the implementation is complete. The "go-live" milestone has been reached, the implementation partner has moved on, and the job is considered "done." Yet, every single month, the same routine repeats: data is exported into Excel spreadsheets because the system’s reporting capabilities don’t align with how the finance team manages and reports on the business. Why is that?
➡️ IT says: "The system is capable of doing it."
➡️ Finance says: "But not in the way we need it to."
⚠️ There is no one bridging this gap—no one taking ownership of this disconnect.
At HAAI, we define this gap as the friction between Finance and IT. Our goal is to eliminate this friction permanently by providing a single lead who speaks both "languages"—that of finance and that of IT.
That is why we created the "Transformation Sprint": a single, measurable leap designed to close this gap in 90 days, structured across five phases:
✔️ Diagnosis
✔️ Blueprint
✔️ Implementation
✔️ Knowledge Transfer
✔️ Hand-off
We begin with a diagnosis to identify where the greatest gains can be made—in this case, by addressing the manual steps in the month-end closing process. From there, we develop a design, proceed to implementation, train your staff, and finally execute a hand-off so you can continue independently. Each phase includes a "quality gate" that must be signed off on by Finance, IT, and our team. The final handover to your team only takes place once they are truly working in the new, optimized way.
However, we also recognize that some teams may prefer not to outsource this work, for a variety of reasons. That is why this approach is available in four formats; the visual indicates who is responsible for the work at each stage:
❇️ Transformation Sprint: We redesign and automate the financial close process, while your team learns alongside us.
❇️ Finance Systems Lead (Tier III): Are you having an implementation partner set up the system, or are they returning to make adjustments? We lead that process on your behalf.
❇️ Advisor (Tier II): Your team handles the reconfiguration of reporting, while we provide monthly guidance and adjustments.
❇️ Sparring (Tier I): You carry out the work yourself, with us acting as a sounding board on a weekly basis.
What happens after the hand-off? You can sustain the gains achieved by engaging us as an Advisor (Tier II). If the diagnosis reveals a larger ERP project or a more complex issue, we step in as Finance Systems Lead (Tier III). If everything is running smoothly and your team is operating independently—but you still want an extra layer of assurance—you can opt for Sparring (Tier I), which serves as a safety net.
Ultimately, the question is not whether you should make improvements, but rather how much of the work you wish to take on yourself.
